Tupac Amaru Shakur never feared death because he knew he would be forever immortalized through his music long after his
passing. To this day, people are bumping Pac in their cars and he is remembered as one of the greatest rappers to ever pick up a pen and put it to paper. We all have our favorite song to put on when we feeling some type of way and his no f**ks attitude pushed him to the top of every list imaginable. Thug life became the motto and we were all finding our "Ambitionz Az A Ridah" and the motivation to speak our mind with Pac's words. Little did he know his written word would end up selling for some fat cash in his memory...
2Pac put a lot of energy into his timeless message and that's one of the main reasons we are still discussing his lyrics to this day. Pac spent a little time in prison and wrote some of his most hard hitting lyrics while he was behind bars. These hand written lyrics have now become a collector's dream and are being auctioned off later this month in London! Can you imagine the power and influence you need in order for people to want to purchase your thoughts from prison? According to Time, two handwritten manuscripts signed by the artist will be a part of Sotheby's Rock & Pop sale on Sept. 29. These lyrics will cost between $50,000 and $80,000 dollars!
The lyrics the MC scribbled behind bars were written for "Ambitionz Az A Ridah," which was the first track Pac laid down after being released in 1995. A lot of the inspiration for his fourth studio album All Eyez On Me came from his time spent reflecting on his life. This LP sold half a million copies in the first week, which is something that we can't even fathom! This was the last album the rapper would ever release before his murder, so it definitely holds some weight. Just like famous painters not appreciated in their time, his death brought his product to the forefront and skyrocketed the value of his work. Today we place poetic and lyrical flowers on his grave by jamming to his music and revisiting the classic video below, "Two Of Americaz Most Wanted" with Snoop Dogg!
Sotheby's expert on books and maniscripts, Gabriel Heaton, claims that the company is excited to auction off these items. "We are delighted to have this item in our sale, it's a really unusual item," he said. "[Tupac] He is a fixture of enormous popularity and great cultural significance, so we are confident there'll be a lot of interest."
