D’Tigers Nigeria open All-Africa Games with win

The Nigeria men’s basketball Team, D’Tigers, are on the high after  their historic AfroBasketball crown on Sunday, August 30.

Nigeria stunned Angola 74-65 to win their  first African trophy and have now continued with the same form in the on-going All-Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.

The reigning Afrobasketball champions won their first game against Mali 76-59 at the Massamba Stadium, Makelele.

D'Tigers dominated the game from start to finish as they showed why they are the basketball king in Africa.

D’Tigers coach, Sani Ahmed, said the result was a good beginning for his team but emphasised that the Malians gave them a good fight.

"It was a good start for us but of course, the Malians gave a good account of themselves," Sani Ahmed told Complete Sports.

“Yes, it was a good test for us because every team that came here wants to win.”.

Team Nigeria women’s Basketball team, D’Tigress, also won their first game at the Games a hard fought 70-69 win over Mali on Wednesday, September 9.
