French giants Paris Saint-Germain reportedly had a world record £110-million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo
rejected by Real Madrid this summer, according to Globo Esporte.
The Portuguese superstar had previously been linked with a move to Paris during the summer transfer window, but today’s reports coming out of Brazil suggest the French champions did, in fact, make an ambitious approach.
According to the aforementioned source, Real immediately rejected PSG’s huge offer for their key man although the Ligue 1 side are expected to return with another offer next summer.
The reported fee of £110m would have made Ronaldo the most valuable player in the world once again after losing his crown to Real teammate Gareth Bale in 2013.
Despite turning 30 Ronaldo has showed no signs of slowing down and scored a massive 48 goals in 35 La Liga matches last season. The superstar has had a slightly more low-key start to the new campaign in Spain and has failed to net in Los Blancos’ opening two La Liga fixtures.
Current PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks set to depart Paris upon the end of hid contract next summer, leaving a possible void that Ronaldo could fill.
Should PSG renew their interest in Ronaldo next summer then a bidding war could be started with Manchester United who are also said to be interested in landing their former player in 12 months time.
