Denzel Washington is the latest addition to ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ The ‘Equalizer’ star is joining the show as a director.
According to EW, the two-time Oscar winner will direct the show’s ninth episode, which was written by the show's head writer Stacy McKee.
Filming of the upcoming episode which will air in November, will kick off later this month.
This marks the TV directorial debut of the actor who has previously directed two films ‘The Great Debaters’ and ‘Antwone Fisher.’
On Thursday, September 24, 2015, 'Grey's Anatomy' returned for its 12th season, without Patrick Dempsey, whose character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, was killed off toward the end of Season 11.
In an episode written by Shonda Rhimes, Dempsey's character was killed off after he was hit by a truck.
Dempsey, who played Derek for 11 seasons, released a statement to TVLine, saying;
“It’s been a remarkable ride. The worldwide impact has been extraordinary. It is incredible how devoted and passionate the fans are and I will forever be grateful and humbled by the experience.”
