Seven people have been confirmed dead in a bomb blast which hit a displaced persons camp in Adamawa State on Friday, September 11, 2015.
The incident is also said to have left 20 people injured, according to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) spokesperson, Sani Datti.
“So far seven persons lost their lives and 20 persons were injured in the bomb blast that occurred in Malkohi Internally Displaced Persons camp,” Datti told Reuters
“Among the injured, seven were treated and discharged while 13 persons including four NEMA officials are still receiving treatment,” he added.
He said further that the blast occurred at about 10:50 am and was caused by an explosive device planted in a tent in the facility.
The explosion is the first to occur in such a camp and is believed to be the work of terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
