Chelsea and Juventus agreed a surprise €84 million deal for Paul Pogba, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Daily Express)
Pogba, 22, left Manchester United in 2012 on a free to join Juventus and now he’s one of Europe’s biggest talents. The box-to-box midfielder is now being touted around Europe as the next big star to set a record-breaking transfer fee.
Indeed, almost a fortnight ago, Chelsea agreed a £62 million fee with Serie A champions Juventus, as per the Express. However, in a turn up for the books, the French star midfielder refused the move to London and turned down Chelsea’s approach, instead choosing to stay with Juventus.
However, reports of Chelsea agreeing a deal for Juve’s number ten come as a surprise, given Juve director general Giuseppe Marotta claimed that it would take more than €100m to lure the Serie A champions into selling him.
Pogba has recently taken over as the club’s new number 10, an iconic shirt number once worn by Alessandro Del Piero and, more recently, Carlos Tevez who’s talents in attack led Juve to consecutive league titles.
Pogba enjoyed a rather successful campaign last season as he hit eight goals in the Italian top flight and played a key role in their run to the Champions League final, too.
Juventus won Serie A for the fourth straight season and picked up the Coppa Italia, too, meaning triumph in the final in Berlin against Barcelona would have brought them their first ever treble, but the Catalans were too good
