Lady Gaga admits she suffered depression and anxiety in her past and now wants to reach out to help young people in America going through emotional suffering
.The 27-year-old pop star, who appears on the cover of October 24 issue of Billboard magazine with Sir. Elton John, explains that the major reason she recently launched her 'Born This Way Foundation' is to try and relate to today's youth with the experience of her own troubled past.
"I’ve suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life, I still suffer with it every single day," the blonde crooner admitted to the mag. "I just want these kids to know that the depth they feel as human beings is normal. We were born that way," Gaga added.
The beauty then took a dig at social media, "This modern thing, where everyone is feeling shallow and less connected is not human, Depression and anxiety really link them," the 'Alejandro' singer said.
"There is something in the way that we are now, with our cell phones and people are not looking at each other and not being in the moment with each other, that kids feel isolated," the Poker Face star adds that it's really sad how young people no longer socialize in reality.
"They read all of this extremely hateful language on the Internet. The internet is a toilet. It is. It used to be a fantastic resource - but you have to sort through sh** to find the good stuff," she explained.
In order to fix it, the fiancee of Taylor Kinney says, "These kids just want to feel human, but they feel like robots. They don’t understand why they’re so sad. There are scientific reasons, which the foundation researches, why you feel sad when you look at your phone all day."
